The Palin Bump

I've been reading a lot since Governor Palin's speech at the RNC last week how remarkable her speech was, and how her being chosen as VP, along with her subsequent speech, has given the McCain campaign a huge bump in the polls.  Many are now, in fact, giving McCain the advantage in November.

My question to all those who were swayed by her speech is this: Why?  How could that speech sway any undecideds/independents, or even Democrats, to their side?  She didn't tell us how their ticket would be better on one single issue (absolutely NO policy specifics), gave us no new information about herself, and delivered nothing but a bunch of nasty, baseless attacks against the Obama ticket.  And here's the worst part - this supposedly great, eloquent speaker, who is the first Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate to ever hold a degree in journalism, didn't even write the speech herself!  Other than the couple small references to her family and mayoral experience, this generic speech could have been uttered by anyone.  And in fact, it was written so that it could be spoken by anyone.  From what I've read, the speech was written before McCain's VP pick was even finalized!

I guess the fact that she's better looking than Biden is good enough for America.  Baaaaa....
